Subject: RE: Thank you
Good Morning Ma'am,
I am a Sergeant in the United States Marine
Corps currently serving in Afghanistan. Today my unit received some packages
from your wonderful students and the family of Corporal Palmer. It is because
of students like Genevieve, leaders of youth like yourself, and families like
the Palmer's that we do what we do. The members of my unit and I were very
touched by this gesture and are extremely grateful that complete strangers are
involved in projects such as this that are able to make our time here more
tolerable. I believe I speak for all who are receiving your packages in saying
that it is a great honor and privilege to be serving our country because of
kind and caring people like all you who are involved in this project. I have
attached a picture of some of the Marines in my unit who wish to extend our
thanks to you all. Please extend our thanks and gratitude to all those
involved.
Very Respectfully,
Sgt Saylor, E. R.

On Saturday The Cpl Palmer Memorial Troop Support Program (MTSP) had a Troop
Packing Party for our Troops (pictures can be seen on the events page) what a
great turnout. They are still fighting and we are still supporting.

It means the world to us that are deployed. When we receive care packages from people we have never even met, it gives us a sense of pride to know that we are being thought about and that people really care about what we are doing over here. Please tell the people thank you so much. When we receive a package it makes our day so much better.

Dear Chuck and Teri,
I hope this email finds you well. Wanted to let you know that I received a package from Mr. and Mrs. David Chisamore. I sent a hand written letter thanking them for their support. Please pass onto all, that their support, prayers, love and just good ole well wishes are very much appreciated.
We, the servicemen and women, know that these campaigns would be unbearable without good citizens that love and support us. Every time a package is received, it is shared amongst all and rest assured that nothing is discarded.
We cannot appreciate you all enough and we promise to keep serving honorably. May god continue to bless you all and again thanks for all you do for us.
Very Respectfully,
Master Sergeant Alain Vargas

Letter from Chris Van Cott, SFC, US Army, Afghanistan
by Teri Palmer on 09/04/11Hello, My name is Sergeant First Class Christopher Van Cott and I am an Infantryman and Senior Human Resources Specialist in the United States Army. Currently I'm deployed to Afghanistan and work in a job twofold, helping to furiously defeat the Taliban and its supporters, and providing mentorship/advise to Afghan leadership by implementing literacy and language proficiency programs; thereby helping to sustain and educate their forces for a greater future. In other words, I eliminate the Taliban and educate the Afghanistan forces. Recently, I received a package from your organization and I'm very delighted and amazed you took the time to create it! I opened the contents and I'm sharing it with my comrades. The two pictures are me as a security force atop Mt. Ghar, Afghanistan (7200 ft above sea level). I want to personally thank you for doing what you do. It's upstanding, great American Citizens like yourselves who help motivate our military's spirit to do what it does. I've been in the military for nearly 15 years now with 2 solid deployments into hostile areas and one humanitarian deployment as well. It's unfortunate some warriors come home to either: citizens who depreciate what the warrior does, or a community that shames them for providing the very blanket of freedom they sleep under. I take great pride in what I do and have done so throughout my entire career. My brother also served for 4 years in the Marine Corps and served in Iraq. If he was asked to rescind his time overseas he would say never, and his reason would be because of citizens like you! What you do is honorable. I believe I can speak for all of us service members in saying, "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and we really appreciate your support!" I look forward to serving with my brothers and sisters in harm's way or wherever my country sends me. And as long as I know you are safe, I'll continue doing it! Lastly, I'll be back and I look forward to continuing my help with organizations like yours. Take care, God Bless, and be safe while I continue my march. Chris Van Cott SFC, US Army Afghanistan "All right, they're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us...they can't get away this time."
